  • London Falling: A Mysterious Death in a Gilded City and a Family’s Search for Truth by Patrick Keefe. The story of a young man in London who gets caught up in his own lies and in a network of unsavory people. Explores the dark underbelly of modern London.
  • The Last Days of Socrates by Plato. Not much to say, classic text.
  • A Parade of Horribles by Matt Dinniman. It was little hard to get back into Dungeon Crawler Carl after a year+ away, but I do love the series.
  • One Day, Everyone Will Have Always Been Against This by Omar El Akkad. I love our country, but that doesn’t mean that I ignore our problems. I want to understand our problems and mistakes and help us to do better. This is a pretty gruesome book about America’s unwillingness to comprehend tragedy in the middle east that we are a party to.
  • Something to Do with Paying Attention by David Foster Wallace. I want to like his work but very hard to get into. He lost me when he started wandering around through the recreational drug scene. I’m no prude, but I just don’t relate.
  • Creatures of a Day: And Other Tales of Psychotherapy by Irvin D. Yalom. A therapist and his patients engage on death, relevance, and meaning. Almost reads like a novel. I found it very engaging.
  • 14 by Peter Clines. An homage to Lovecraft, nice characters, but not really my thing.
  • Why Nothing Works: Who Killed Progress—and How to Bring It Back by Marc J. Dunkelman. I want to love this book, but it takes so long to set up the argument that I lose interest.
  • Fairy Tale by Stephen King. Entertaining but some huge plot holes that are hard to overlook.
  • A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving. Two of my friends have recommended this book forever. I finally made the time, the first half seemed slow, but it all came together and accelerated. War sucks and it is stupid that we are engaged in a needless war with Iran.
